How the 8-team esports single elimination bracket is built
8 is a power of two, so the bracket is full and nobody gets a bye. A champion is decided after 7 games in 3 rounds; add the optional 3rd-place match for one more game.
First-round matchups
Standard seeding puts the strongest seed against the weakest: 1 v 8, 4 v 5, 2 v 7, 3 v 6. List your teams strongest-first in the generator and the seeding is applied automatically.
How long does it take?
With 45-minute games, 7 games take about 5.3 hours on one station and 2.6 hours on two — but rounds can't overlap, so the last rounds always run one game at a time. Pro's scheduler enforces that ordering when it assigns dates, start times and stations.
Esports rules that affect the schedule
Online tournaments commonly run best-of-1 group stages and best-of-3 playoffs. Double elimination is the community standard for fighting games and many shooters; single elimination for one-day opens.
Tie-breakers: Match wins, then map/game differential, then head-to-head, then seeding.
Organizer tip: Use the double-elimination format with the bracket reset enabled — players expect a grand final reset if the losers-bracket team wins.
