How a 10-team tennis round robin works
Every team plays each of the other 9 teams once, which is 45 games in total. With an even number of teams every team plays in every round, so the whole schedule fits in 9 rounds with no byes. A double round robin (home and away) doubles that to 90 games over 18 rounds.
Round 1 pairings
The generator uses the circle method, which guarantees each pair meets exactly once. For 10 teams seeded 1–10, round 1 is: 1 v 10, 9 v 2, 3 v 8, 7 v 4, 5 v 6. Home and away alternate so no team is stuck with all away games.
How long does it take?
Using 90-minute tennis slots, 45 games need about 67.5 hours on one court, 33.8 hours on two, or 16.9 hours on four. A weekly league playing one round per week runs 9 weeks. Pro's scheduler turns those numbers into actual dates, start times and courts, honouring rest gaps and games-per-day limits.
Tennis rules that affect the schedule
Club tennis ladders and round robins typically play one pro set (first to 8) or a short set with a tiebreak at 6–6 to keep matches inside a 60–90 minute court booking.
Tie-breakers: Match wins, then set differential, then game differential, then head-to-head.
Organizer tip: For knockout draws, seed by rating so the top players do not meet in round one.
