How a 10-team ultimate frisbee round robin works

Every team plays each of the other 9 teams once, which is 45 games in total. With an even number of teams every team plays in every round, so the whole schedule fits in 9 rounds with no byes. A double round robin (home and away) doubles that to 90 games over 18 rounds.

Round 1 pairings

The generator uses the circle method, which guarantees each pair meets exactly once. For 10 teams seeded 1–10, round 1 is: 1 v 10, 9 v 2, 3 v 8, 7 v 4, 5 v 6. Home and away alternate so no team is stuck with all away games.

How long does it take?

Using 90-minute ultimate frisbee slots, 45 games need about 67.5 hours on one field, 33.8 hours on two, or 16.9 hours on four. A weekly league playing one round per week runs 9 weeks. Pro's scheduler turns those numbers into actual dates, start times and fields, honouring rest gaps and games-per-day limits.

Ultimate Frisbee rules that affect the schedule

Ultimate games are played to 13 or 15 points with a soft time cap (~75–90 minutes). Tournaments run pool play (round robin) on Saturday and a bracket on Sunday.

Tie-breakers: Head-to-head, then point differential among tied teams, then point differential overall (USA Ultimate ordering).

Organizer tip: Generate the pools as round robins first, then create a separate single-elimination bracket for the top seeds.
