How a 16-team ultimate frisbee round robin works
Every team plays each of the other 15 teams once, which is 120 games in total. With an even number of teams every team plays in every round, so the whole schedule fits in 15 rounds with no byes. A double round robin (home and away) doubles that to 240 games over 30 rounds.
Round 1 pairings
The generator uses the circle method, which guarantees each pair meets exactly once. For 16 teams seeded 1–16, round 1 is: 1 v 16, 15 v 2, 3 v 14, 13 v 4, 5 v 12, 11 v 6, 7 v 10, 9 v 8. Home and away alternate so no team is stuck with all away games.
How long does it take?
Using 90-minute ultimate frisbee slots, 120 games need about 180 hours on one field, 90 hours on two, or 45 hours on four. A weekly league playing one round per week runs 15 weeks. Pro's scheduler turns those numbers into actual dates, start times and fields, honouring rest gaps and games-per-day limits.
Ultimate Frisbee rules that affect the schedule
Ultimate games are played to 13 or 15 points with a soft time cap (~75–90 minutes). Tournaments run pool play (round robin) on Saturday and a bracket on Sunday.
Tie-breakers: Head-to-head, then point differential among tied teams, then point differential overall (USA Ultimate ordering).
Organizer tip: Generate the pools as round robins first, then create a separate single-elimination bracket for the top seeds.
