How the 16-team basketball double elimination bracket is built
16 is a power of two, so the bracket is full and nobody gets a bye. Everyone gets two lives: losers from the winners bracket drop into a 6-round losers bracket. The grand final is 30 games in, and if the losers-bracket finalist wins it a reset game is played, for 31 games in total.
First-round matchups
Standard seeding puts the strongest seed against the weakest: 1 v 16, 8 v 9, 4 v 13, 5 v 12, 2 v 15, 7 v 10, 3 v 14, 6 v 11. List your teams strongest-first in the generator and the seeding is applied automatically.
How long does it take?
With 60-minute games, 31 games take about 31 hours on one court and 15.5 hours on two — but rounds can't overlap, so the last rounds always run one game at a time. Pro's scheduler enforces that ordering when it assigns dates, start times and courts.
Basketball rules that affect the schedule
Rec-league basketball games usually run two 20-minute halves with a running clock, so a 60-minute slot including warm-up and changeover is realistic. Ties are broken with overtime, so standings use a simple 2-points-per-win system.
Tie-breakers: Head-to-head record, then point differential (often capped at ±20 per game to discourage running up the score), then points scored.
Organizer tip: Give each team at least 60 minutes between games on the same day; back-to-back games are the most common complaint from players.
