How the 16-team volleyball double elimination bracket is built

16 is a power of two, so the bracket is full and nobody gets a bye. Everyone gets two lives: losers from the winners bracket drop into a 6-round losers bracket. The grand final is 30 games in, and if the losers-bracket finalist wins it a reset game is played, for 31 games in total.

First-round matchups

Standard seeding puts the strongest seed against the weakest: 1 v 16, 8 v 9, 4 v 13, 5 v 12, 2 v 15, 7 v 10, 3 v 14, 6 v 11. List your teams strongest-first in the generator and the seeding is applied automatically.

How long does it take?

With 60-minute games, 31 games take about 31 hours on one court and 15.5 hours on two — but rounds can't overlap, so the last rounds always run one game at a time. Pro's scheduler enforces that ordering when it assigns dates, start times and courts.

Volleyball rules that affect the schedule

League volleyball is best-of-3 or best-of-5 sets to 25 (15 in the deciding set). Matches cannot end in a tie, and many leagues also track set ratio.

Tie-breakers: Match wins, then set ratio (sets won ÷ sets lost), then point ratio, then head-to-head.

Organizer tip: With multiple courts in one gym, stagger start times by 15 minutes so warm-ups do not collide.
