How the 16-team softball double elimination bracket is built

16 is a power of two, so the bracket is full and nobody gets a bye. Everyone gets two lives: losers from the winners bracket drop into a 6-round losers bracket. The grand final is 30 games in, and if the losers-bracket finalist wins it a reset game is played, for 31 games in total.

First-round matchups

Standard seeding puts the strongest seed against the weakest: 1 v 16, 8 v 9, 4 v 13, 5 v 12, 2 v 15, 7 v 10, 3 v 14, 6 v 11. List your teams strongest-first in the generator and the seeding is applied automatically.

How long does it take?

With 75-minute games, 31 games take about 38.8 hours on one diamond and 19.4 hours on two — but rounds can't overlap, so the last rounds always run one game at a time. Pro's scheduler enforces that ordering when it assigns dates, start times and diamonds.

Softball rules that affect the schedule

Slow-pitch softball is typically 7 innings or a 60–65 minute time limit with a mercy rule (e.g. 10 runs after 5 innings). Weeknight leagues stack 2–3 games per diamond.

Tie-breakers: Head-to-head, then runs allowed (not runs scored, to discourage running up scores), then coin flip.

Organizer tip: Double-headers are popular: set the per-team daily limit to 2 with 0 minutes rest if teams play back-to-back on the same diamond.
