How a 5-team baseball round robin works
Every team plays each of the other 4 teams once, which is 10 games in total. With an odd number of teams one team sits out each round, so the season needs 5 rounds and every team has exactly one bye. A double round robin (home and away) doubles that to 20 games over 10 rounds.
Round 1 pairings
The generator uses the circle method, which guarantees each pair meets exactly once. For 5 teams seeded 1–5, round 1 is: 5 v 2, 3 v 4 (bye: team 1). Home and away alternate so no team is stuck with all away games.
How long does it take?
Using 120-minute baseball slots, 10 games need about 20 hours on one diamond, 10 hours on two, or 5 hours on four. A weekly league playing one round per week runs 5 weeks. Pro's scheduler turns those numbers into actual dates, start times and diamonds, honouring rest gaps and games-per-day limits.
Baseball rules that affect the schedule
Youth baseball games are usually 6 innings or a 90–120 minute time limit; adult leagues play 7 or 9 innings. Pitch-count rules make rest days between games important for arms.
Tie-breakers: Head-to-head, then runs allowed ratio, then run differential.
Organizer tip: Use the minimum-rest constraint (e.g. 2 days = 2880 minutes) to protect pitchers when teams have thin rotations.
