How a 16-team baseball round robin works

Every team plays each of the other 15 teams once, which is 120 games in total. With an even number of teams every team plays in every round, so the whole schedule fits in 15 rounds with no byes. A double round robin (home and away) doubles that to 240 games over 30 rounds.

Round 1 pairings

The generator uses the circle method, which guarantees each pair meets exactly once. For 16 teams seeded 1–16, round 1 is: 1 v 16, 15 v 2, 3 v 14, 13 v 4, 5 v 12, 11 v 6, 7 v 10, 9 v 8. Home and away alternate so no team is stuck with all away games.

How long does it take?

Using 120-minute baseball slots, 120 games need about 240 hours on one diamond, 120 hours on two, or 60 hours on four. A weekly league playing one round per week runs 15 weeks. Pro's scheduler turns those numbers into actual dates, start times and diamonds, honouring rest gaps and games-per-day limits.

Baseball rules that affect the schedule

Youth baseball games are usually 6 innings or a 90–120 minute time limit; adult leagues play 7 or 9 innings. Pitch-count rules make rest days between games important for arms.

Tie-breakers: Head-to-head, then runs allowed ratio, then run differential.

Organizer tip: Use the minimum-rest constraint (e.g. 2 days = 2880 minutes) to protect pitchers when teams have thin rotations.
