How a 8-team baseball round robin works
Every team plays each of the other 7 teams once, which is 28 games in total. With an even number of teams every team plays in every round, so the whole schedule fits in 7 rounds with no byes. A double round robin (home and away) doubles that to 56 games over 14 rounds.
Round 1 pairings
The generator uses the circle method, which guarantees each pair meets exactly once. For 8 teams seeded 1–8, round 1 is: 1 v 8, 7 v 2, 3 v 6, 5 v 4. Home and away alternate so no team is stuck with all away games.
How long does it take?
Using 120-minute baseball slots, 28 games need about 56 hours on one diamond, 28 hours on two, or 14 hours on four. A weekly league playing one round per week runs 7 weeks. Pro's scheduler turns those numbers into actual dates, start times and diamonds, honouring rest gaps and games-per-day limits.
Baseball rules that affect the schedule
Youth baseball games are usually 6 innings or a 90–120 minute time limit; adult leagues play 7 or 9 innings. Pitch-count rules make rest days between games important for arms.
Tie-breakers: Head-to-head, then runs allowed ratio, then run differential.
Organizer tip: Use the minimum-rest constraint (e.g. 2 days = 2880 minutes) to protect pitchers when teams have thin rotations.
