How the 12-team tennis double elimination bracket is built
12 is not a power of two, so the bracket is padded to 16 slots and the top 4 seeds skip round one with a bye. Everyone gets two lives: losers from the winners bracket drop into a 6-round losers bracket. The grand final is 22 games in, and if the losers-bracket finalist wins it a reset game is played, for 23 games in total.
First-round matchups
Standard seeding puts the strongest seed against the weakest: 8 v 9, 5 v 12, 7 v 10, 6 v 11. Seeds 1–4 wait for round two. List your teams strongest-first in the generator and the seeding is applied automatically.
How long does it take?
With 90-minute games, 23 games take about 34.5 hours on one court and 17.3 hours on two — but rounds can't overlap, so the last rounds always run one game at a time. Pro's scheduler enforces that ordering when it assigns dates, start times and courts.
Tennis rules that affect the schedule
Club tennis ladders and round robins typically play one pro set (first to 8) or a short set with a tiebreak at 6–6 to keep matches inside a 60–90 minute court booking.
Tie-breakers: Match wins, then set differential, then game differential, then head-to-head.
Organizer tip: For knockout draws, seed by rating so the top players do not meet in round one.
