How the 16-team ultimate frisbee double elimination bracket is built

16 is a power of two, so the bracket is full and nobody gets a bye. Everyone gets two lives: losers from the winners bracket drop into a 6-round losers bracket. The grand final is 30 games in, and if the losers-bracket finalist wins it a reset game is played, for 31 games in total.

First-round matchups

Standard seeding puts the strongest seed against the weakest: 1 v 16, 8 v 9, 4 v 13, 5 v 12, 2 v 15, 7 v 10, 3 v 14, 6 v 11. List your teams strongest-first in the generator and the seeding is applied automatically.

How long does it take?

With 90-minute games, 31 games take about 46.5 hours on one field and 23.3 hours on two — but rounds can't overlap, so the last rounds always run one game at a time. Pro's scheduler enforces that ordering when it assigns dates, start times and fields.

Ultimate Frisbee rules that affect the schedule

Ultimate games are played to 13 or 15 points with a soft time cap (~75–90 minutes). Tournaments run pool play (round robin) on Saturday and a bracket on Sunday.

Tie-breakers: Head-to-head, then point differential among tied teams, then point differential overall (USA Ultimate ordering).

Organizer tip: Generate the pools as round robins first, then create a separate single-elimination bracket for the top seeds.
