How a 16-team flag football round robin works

Every team plays each of the other 15 teams once, which is 120 games in total. With an even number of teams every team plays in every round, so the whole schedule fits in 15 rounds with no byes. A double round robin (home and away) doubles that to 240 games over 30 rounds.

Round 1 pairings

The generator uses the circle method, which guarantees each pair meets exactly once. For 16 teams seeded 1–16, round 1 is: 1 v 16, 15 v 2, 3 v 14, 13 v 4, 5 v 12, 11 v 6, 7 v 10, 9 v 8. Home and away alternate so no team is stuck with all away games.

How long does it take?

Using 60-minute flag football slots, 120 games need about 120 hours on one field, 60 hours on two, or 30 hours on four. A weekly league playing one round per week runs 15 weeks. Pro's scheduler turns those numbers into actual dates, start times and fields, honouring rest gaps and games-per-day limits.

Flag Football rules that affect the schedule

Flag football games run two 20–25 minute halves. Many leagues split one full-size field into two flag fields, doubling capacity.

Tie-breakers: Head-to-head, then point differential, then points allowed.

Organizer tip: If you split a field, list each half as its own field (e.g. "Field 1A", "Field 1B") so the scheduler can use both.
