How a 16-team pickleball round robin works

Every team plays each of the other 15 teams once, which is 120 games in total. With an even number of teams every team plays in every round, so the whole schedule fits in 15 rounds with no byes. A double round robin (home and away) doubles that to 240 games over 30 rounds.

Round 1 pairings

The generator uses the circle method, which guarantees each pair meets exactly once. For 16 teams seeded 1–16, round 1 is: 1 v 16, 15 v 2, 3 v 14, 13 v 4, 5 v 12, 11 v 6, 7 v 10, 9 v 8. Home and away alternate so no team is stuck with all away games.

How long does it take?

Using 30-minute pickleball slots, 120 games need about 60 hours on one court, 30 hours on two, or 15 hours on four. A weekly league playing one round per week runs 15 weeks. Pro's scheduler turns those numbers into actual dates, start times and courts, honouring rest gaps and games-per-day limits.

Pickleball rules that affect the schedule

Pickleball round robins are usually one game to 11 (win by 2) or a timed 20–25 minute game. Because games are short, 4–8 courts can run a 16-team event in a single morning.

Tie-breakers: Match wins, then head-to-head, then point differential, then points scored.

Organizer tip: Pickleball events are the most court-constrained: set fields to your real court count and let the scheduler fill every slot.
